Outreach Projects

Our first Outreach Project was with Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries in 2015,  a local non-profit providing a wide variety of services to those in need in the valley. They provide canned food, clothing, financial assistance, anything & everything they possibility can-Awesome people!

Danielle taught an eight-week course to the staff of SVCM in the fall of 2015. They loved it. Here are some testimonials:

“Danielle was excellent. She worked at each participants pace. She helped when we were not in the correct pose. She helped us to let go of tensions and taught moves I was not familiar with. I did learn more about yoga, breath work and mindfulness. It was great to “let go”. It was neat how quickly stressors were released. Keep doing what you are doing. It is awesome!”

“This was an awesome opportunity for our Ministry. I liked the small group and intimate atmosphere. Danielle is great-very knowledgeable. She was very open to changes in our schedule. etc.”

“Definitely would recommend! this would benefit anyone who is stressed by workload, family issues, feeling out of control in their lives. Although not many clients expressed an interest, I think with more education and availability they would be receptive. Danielle was very informative and friendly and made the yoga experience more approachable

Our second Outreach Project is a partnership with Bounty & Soul, a local non-profit providing a wide variety of free, fresh produce each week for anyone in need. Free nutrition and food preparation classes are also provided. We have been provided classes since 2015 on Tuesdays Market at St James Episcopal Church in Black Mountain. In 2017 we added a second class at the Black Mountain Library (see class schedules) for free to volunteers and participants of the Bounty & Soul project. Since September of 2018 we have now began teaching classes at Swannanoa Valley Montessori school at the Carver Center. This has been a wonderfully attended program.

Danielle Sangita Rottenberg, Founder of The Yoga Service Movement, has also been giving Bounty & Soul participants Ayurveda and Wellness lectures/education series since January of 2017 on a monthly basis. The people have truly enjoyed learning more about how to bring self-care practices, Ayurvedic principles and holistic healing options into their lives. Keep up the amazing work Danielle!!!

We would love to do more outreach so please contact Danielle at daniellerottenberg@gmail.com if you know of populations or people in need or yoga, meditation, and wellness!!

We also had a wonderful opportunity to work with the Black Moutain Fire Department and the Town employees where we taught once a week for 4 months. The fire department said that it truly helped with their stress levels and their flexibility. They are invited weekly to attend the Saturday morning classes along with Buncombe county teachers to attend free yoga classes.
